On 21 December 2024, OB Amponsah filled the 4,000-capacity Bukom Boxing Arena for his 10th anniversary comedy special — widely reported as the first time a Ghanaian comedian had filled a venue that size for a stand-up show.
A few weeks later, he told the press what it had cost him:
"Even the just-ended one at Bukom Boxing Arena, I made a loss of about GH₵40,000. I've done about five comedy specials with no profit."
Ahead of the show he had also spoken out about the tax burden on event tickets, including the Ghana Revenue Authority's decision to tax complimentary tickets.
Despite the numbers, OB said he still sees the investment in Ghanaian comedy as worthwhile.
